Highlight of the game:
In the Warriors’ first game without Steph Curry, Draymond Green sat out with a quad injury. This pretty much preordained the eventual loss, but the Warriors actually raced out to a 38-33 lead by the end of the first quarter, buoyed by the hot shooting of Donte DiVincenzo, who hit his first five shots from deep en route to a career-high 15-point quarter. James Wiseman got surprise minutes in the second quarter matched up against Joel Embiid and mostly held his own, but after he checked out the Warriors went into a zone defense that Embiid took advantage of to cut the Warriors’ lead to just two points by the start of the second half.
The 76ers took their first lead of the game early in the third quarter, but a brief heater by Jordan Poole, who finished the game with 29 points, helped the Warriors fend off the home team. Deeper into the quarter, the Warriors fell behind by as many as 12 points and ended the period down 7. The Warriors had some chances in the fourth quarter to cut into the 76ers’ lead — James Wiseman’s offensive rebounding created extra shots that the Warriors missed and Klay Thompson hit two shots in a row, which got him up to 3/13 shooting on the night. Klay’s consecutive shots goaded him into an unfortunate stretch of hero ball, which helped the 76ers put the game out of reach, and with about a minute left, Steve Kerr brought in his Second Timeline lineup.
12/18/22: The Warriors beat the Raptors, 126-110.
